Odyssey is a school that has incredible opportunities for students to learn many different subjects and to explore their interests. Classes range from the typical U.S. Math, Science, English, and History to many forms of art, physical activity and reflection. There are also opportunities to engage with learning outside school through field trips to learn about US Historyand Science in the California Nature. A key pillar of the experience is the trip to visit Japan in 8th grade which gave us the chance to learn a new culture and meet Japanese students and host families. To prepare forthis trip, students study Japanese language, culture,and history throughout all three years of school.In my time at Odyssey I was lucky to meet students from many backgrounds across the San Francisco Bay Area. Students and teachers who choose to be a part of the Odyssey community are smart and curious. Many have passions in and out of school that they share with each other. With that, students also form strong friendships with one another which creates a supportive community. This community is one that is safe to try new things and explore.Odyssey also has a fantastic set of teachers who are very passionate about the growth of their students as well as the specific subjects they teach. Each student receives personal attention to make sure they are reaching their potential. The teachers are also engaged with the out of class room learning experiences. They guide students through field trips, exploring their passions, and ultimately the trip to Japan. All in all, Odyssey is a school that is perfect for students who are curious about learning, their passions, and getting to know other people both in class and outside.
